Application season is challenging!
A wise friend warned me to budget as much time for applications senior year as we would for an entire course (5-10 hours/week for 1-2 semesters).
Oh, was she right… I couldn’t believe how much work there was. Each school has its own main application, and then each school has separate scholarship applications, and then there are outside scholarship applications too… it can seem endless. It can easily total 20 separate essays, not to mention all the other paperwork.
The pressure is intense on seniors; so much is riding on the documents, deadlines, and decisions.

But application season is not only hard on seniors - it's hard on parents, too! They are swamped with college visits, financial aid forms, transcripts... all while navigating a delicate tightrope with semi-adult kids: do they nag about the to-do list or back off? What if their child misses a deadline and loses thousands of scholarship dollars?

Perfect recipe for family blow-ups!
Let Us Help.

Let us share what we’ve learned and minimize your stress load. As outside accountability and feedback coaches, we reduce the tension between parent and student and help guide the application workload smoothly. As believers, we encourage students to turn this stressful time into an opportunity to rely more deeply on the Lord.
Key First Steps offers an orientation to the college application process so your student knows how to begin application season effectively.

The boys loved the meeting and were glad they could learn from your experience. I listened in to most of your discussion, too. You are gifted in this area of sharing information--and you are appreciated!
Mother of two high schoolers
It was SO great to have help from a homeschooling perspective. We have had other help but few people are familiar with the uniqueness of homeschooled students and how best to present their activities etc.
